Jonathan Kitei joined PennantPark in 2025 as the CEO of PennantPark Funding, a new affiliate of PennantPark Investment Advisers. Jon and the PennantPark Funding team are focused on providing financing solutions to securitization sponsors globally.
Prior to joining PennantPark, Jon was a Senior Managing Director at Nearwater Capital where he was responsible for running the Risk Retention Financing business for approximately 3 ½ years. Before joining Nearwater in 2020, Jon spent nearly twenty years at the combination of Barclays and Lehman Brothers as a Managing Director in a series of senior roles. Those positions include US Head of Securitized Products Sales and Global Head of CLO Distribution, US Head of CLO Origination and Syndicate, and US Head of Loan Sales. Jon was Barclays’ representative for six years on the Board of the Loan Syndications and Trading Association, including two years as the Board Chair.
Jon has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BS from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
